Suzu lab / the saxophone and the trumpet

A reed on a cone, lips on a flared bore: a valve that the mouth's pressure opens and closes, a bore that answers — and the ledger that says the mouth paid for every joule.

SYNTH §5: the energy held ≤ the mouth's work
The mouth's work— The energy held—

The bore and the valve hold a small share of what the mouth gives; the rest leaves through the bell as sound and into the walls as heat. The line at the top is the ledger's bound: nothing the engine ships can cross it.

Air through the valve depends on the pressure in the mouthpiece AFTER the air arrives, so the engine solves the valve and the bore together in each step (the implicit junction). The naive junction takes the pressure from the step before: the continuous system is passive, the discrete one is not, and a transient sets it growing. The engine probes every patch when it loads and refuses this one. Make the bore lossless so nothing hides the energy made, bypass the gate, then bend the note.
